JACK PETCHEY FOUNDATION
CPCDT has been successful in becoming part of the Youth Achievement Award scheme run by the Jack Petchey Foundation.
This will mean that young people will get a chance to nominate another young person for an award; the successful nominee will be awarded up to £200 to spend on youth activities within Anerley Town Hall. The award winner will have to decide how they would like to spend the money, this can be on equipment or fun days out amongst other things.
Having been successful with our application to the Jack Petchey Fund over the last two years we have made awards to twelve young people. The successful young people were voted for by their peers and this has resulted in funding being available for them to take part in different activities of their choice, as a result of this there will be a trip to the Tate Modern by the art class and they have also been able to purchase some much needed materials. The young people from youth club have chosen to take a trip to Thorpe Park last summer and the funding has also enabled us to purchase some items of equipment of their choice.
Art Tutor – Steve Beck – Wins Jack Petchey Award
CPCDT would like to congratulate Steve Beck on being awarded the Jack Petchey Leaders Award 2008; this has been awarded because of his outstanding work with young people as an art class tutor at Anerley Town Hall.
Steve has been tutoring at the art classes for young people between the ages of 8 – 18 for ten years or more. He has made an outstanding contribution and commitment to helping the young people develop their artistic abilities and talents. Steve encourages and inspires the young people to do their best work and achieve to the best of their ability.
Many of the young people who attend art class have achieved very high levels in their art GCSE’s with the help of Steve’s tuition and in some cases this has given those who have left art class the opportunity to obtain jobs using their skills in art.
Steve builds positive relationships with the young people and they all think very highly of him.
The young people have told us that Steve is an excellent teacher he has a great sense of humour, he is talented and fun to work with.
